Noble Soil & Water Board Reorganizes for 2008
Picture below are the Noble Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors. The board is responsible for administrating Noble SWCD’s natural resource conservation programs. Noble SWCD – a subdivision of state government has legal authority to assist landowners with a wide range of soil, water, woodland and wildlife conservation objectives. Another important goal is to provide information and education programs on natural resource conservation and management topics for county residents.

By having a follow-up meeting in the woods we were able to view a site that was logged two years ago where Best Management Practice's (BMP's) were used. Another site visited was a future logging site where Timber Stand Improvement was in practice.

THE ART OF AVALON
The Division
of Soil and Water Conservation and the Ohio Federation of
Soil and Water Conservation Districts are teaming up and sponsoring
an exciting project that will showcase the artist’s talents
of soil and water conservations districts throughout the
state of Ohio. Each district was asked to solicit a work of
art that illustrates unique or important natural,
environmental, agricultural or historic features of a county
or other area – thereby relating to the projects theme:
"Soil and water conservation – keeping Ohio’s land
productive and water clean!
The finish artwork will be displayed at the Ohio Federation of Soil & Water Conservation District 65th annual meeting to be held in Columbus in January, with balloting to select People’s Choice Awards. Later the artwork will be permanently displayed in the Divisions’ headquarters for visitors to enjoy.
Noble Soil and Water Conservation District sought out the assistance of Adrian Avalon Rich. Adrian is 15 years old, home educated and from the Seneca Lake area. She is a professional equine artist with original works in all mediums, specializing in acrylics. Adrian is also an equine therapist/trainer. Using her horses with handicapped and trouble teens, she helps give her clients emotional and mental confidence thru handling and riding experiences.
Her credits include 2 state champion titles in Hippology, various fine art awards which include locally, the Salt Fork Arts Festival, Art on the Square, Quaker City Folk Festival and the Ohio State Fair. Adrian continues her education in Hippology and Art, by attending state competitions, seminars and private lessons.

State Launches "Call Before You Cut" Program
Columbus – A new resource and consumer protection campaign encourages private woodland property owners to seek advice from a professional forester and to hire a master logger before harvesting trees on their land.
The "Call Before You Cut" campaign is coordinated by the Ohio Department of Natural Resource4s (ODNR) Division of Forestry, Rural Action, and Ohio State University Extension. Other primary sources include the Ohio Chapter of Society of American Foresters, the ODNR Division of Soil and Water Conservation, the Nature Conservancy and the Better Business Bureau.
The campaign features a toll-free number (877-424-8288) with a live operator on duty weekdays, providing quick answers to caller questions about how to find an accredited forester to help them with management options, and in sustaining the long-term health of their woodlands.
